Emergency Coordination Centre and Zone Emergency Operation Centres
Alberta Health Services has identified the need to transition from a Pandemic (H1N1) planning structure to a provincial Pandemic (H1N1) response structure which includes the activation of the Alberta Health Services Emergency Coordination Centre (AHSECC) and five Zone Emergency Operations Centres (ZEOCs). These structures coordinate and support H1N1 response efforts within the health sector in Alberta. This transition will be effective 0800 hr. on Thursday, October 22, 2009.
The previous H1N1 Coordination Centre will cease to be used.
The Alberta Health Services Emergency Coordination Centre will work closely with Alberta Health and Wellness and the Zone Emergency Operations Centres in an effort to ensure a consistent and timely response to issues as they arise.
The Zone Emergency Operations Centres will support the AHS sites and services in managing the H1N1 response. Alberta Health Services Staff and Physicians are asked to advise their Managers and Leaders of issues / concerns relating to H1N1. In addition, the ZEOCS will serve as the point of contact for external partners and stakeholders with local health related issues / inquiries.
