Lori Andreachuk, Q.C., Medicine Hat, Member

Distinguished professional and personally, Lori Andreachuk is committed to serving Albertans' interests on the Alberta Health Services Board.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and Science Degree and a Law Degree from the University of Lethbridge and University of Alberta, respectively, Ms. Andreachuk was admitted to the Bar in 1978. She became the first female partner of a Lethbridge law firm in 1980.

Ms. Andreachuk earned her Queen's Counsel designation in 1992, a designation that recognizes lawyers who have contributed their time and effort to the community, their profession and clients.

Ms. Andreachuk served on the Alberta Advisory Council on Women's issues for six years and is responsible for recommending and seeing to the implementation of various programs including the Maintenance Enforcement Program and the legalization of Midwifery in Alberta.

In 1995, Ms. Andreachuk was appointed to the Alberta Human Rights Commission and was the longest serving Human Rights Commissioner in Alberta - 13 years in total. In that role, Ms. Andreachuk was responsible for authoring numerous decisions, advanced Human Rights laws in the fields of gender discrimination and employment discrimination.

Ms. Andreachuk has received many honours and awards, has held many directorships and appointments, including serving on various Law Society Committees; the Canadian Civil Justice Task Force; and the Canadian Task Force on Alternate Dispute Resolution.

Currently, Ms. Andreachuk is a senior partner at Andreachuk Popovitch Barristers and Solicitors in Lethbridge and Medicine Hat.

Ms. Andreachuk is a member of many professional associations including: the Canadian Bar Association; the Alberta Bar Association; the Lethbridge Bar Association; the Law Society of Alberta; the Canadian Family Mediation Society; the Alberta Family Mediation Society; the American Academy of Family Mediators; and the Business and Professional Women's Club.
