Jack Ady, Cardston, Member

Jack Ady has a long commitment to public and community service.
Mr. Ady was born in Cardston, married Darlene Pilling, and together, they raised four sons and one daughter.
Mr. Ady served for many years in the oil sector as sales/manager for Continental Emsco and later for eleven years as Western Canadian divisional manager for the valve division of Rockwell International. In 1976, he turned to farming and ranching for ten years to provide a rural experience for his family. During that time, he served as local county councillor.
Mr. Ady was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in May 1986 where he served for three terms. He served as Chairman of Alberta Heritage Trust Fund and several other committees. In 1992, he was appointed Minister of Advanced Education. During that time, he was named to the Agenda & Priorities Committee of Cabinet as well as additional standing policy committees. Mr. Ady retired from provincial politics in 1997.
Later, he served as a member of the Mount Royal College Board of Governors as well as chairman for one year, and was appointed by the Minister of Education as a volunteer to a provincial government committee to review outcomes for grade school students.
He was elected in 2001 to Board of Governors of the Chinook Health Region and was designated chairman, where he has served for six and a half years. He continues to have a strong interest and commitment to the health care system.
