Alberta Colorectal Cancer Screening Program Project

What is the ACRCSP Project?

In partnership with Alberta’s current colorectal cancer screening and treatment service providers, Alberta Health Services is developing a provincial strategy for colorectal cancer screening.  The result of the project will be a business plan that will identify a provincial screening model, future demand assessment, evaluation plan, resource requirements and recommended implementation approach for the ACRCSP.

The ACRCSP will build on the strengths of current programs and address clinical, practice, administrative and population health aspects using data and best evidence and focusing on improving health outcomes. The plan will review the appropriate lab, endoscopy, pathology and other related services required to support province wide screening and follow-up as required.

This project is a first step in the future development of an Alberta Colorectal Cancer Program (ACRCP) that will incorporate components along the continuum from health promotion and disease prevention to end of life support.
